Pastor Pedro called and let us know that he had another meeting in Leon that got planned for this afternoon and it would be later than we would be going out for baseball and youth group. Scarleth and I called Daniel to see if he would like to speak after leading worship, and he accepted.
We grabbed some snacks and soft drinks on our way out for the baseball kids to enjoy after practice for the ones that would help us clean up the piles of weeds, rocks, and dirt around the church and clinic where many church members had worked yesterday and would be working again today.
Leo ran about an hour and 15 minute baseball practice and then Scarleth and I explained to them about the help we needed from them. All 18, and some other kids that were just hanging out on the property did a wonderful job taking nearly 10 wheelbarrows full of brush out from around the buildings and trees.
The gardeners and some other church members planted over 100 plantain tree bulbs around the clinic and throughout the garden. Other church members got the area flat between the garden and clinic for a few trees and parking spots in the future. Still others worked to get posts in the ground a the back of the field near the river for a fence that will hopefully get done over the weekend for more planting.
Our youth event went great, we still had right at or a little over 100 young people there with our 2-week miss due to strike. We got Santa Matilde and La Isla there a little before 6 and had told Candelaria we were starting at 6 from now on, but no one really showed up until 7. We are hoping that by next time we can have people there by 6. Daniel led a great worship and did an excellent job speaking with such short notice.
Scarleth and I talked about today being probably our best full day we have seen out there in a long time, maybe ever. Just so many things happening with sports, church members getting work done-old and young-and another great youth event.
